You can do big things with a small team – as someone who has worked as part of a small team in every job I’ve ever done, and worked with some amazing people on some amazing projects, I confirm this to be true.<\/p>\n

What’s so good about running a small team?<\/h2>\n

Since leaving university at the back end of the 1990s, I’ve worked as a graphic designer, a coffee shop proprietor and a content writer – each time as part of a small team that has done a wonderful job.<\/p>\n

Here are a just some of the reasons running \u00a0a small team is great for small business owners…<\/p>\n

  1. Focus<\/strong> \u2013 You can spend more time with each person on a smaller team and work one-to-one as necessary.<\/li>\n
  2. Clarity<\/strong> \u2013 Everyone has a line of sight to everyone else, and is aware of the circumstances, the successes, the failures and the expectations of the team.<\/li>\n
  3. Cohesion<\/strong> \u2013 Smaller teams have a greater chance to be more cohesive, which can lead to greater cooperation.<\/li>\n
  4. Administration<\/strong> \u2013 You don’t have to recruit, train and bring as many people up the learning curve when managing a small team, so you can spend more time on real work and less on the administration of the team.<\/li>\n
  5. Interaction<\/strong> \u2013 You can interact more easily with each individual and gain a sense of their commitment level.<\/li>\n
  6. Visibility<\/strong> – Since it is harder to \u201chide\u201d on a small team, you can quickly weed out those who aren\u2019t up to snuff or just aren\u2019t bought in to the program.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
