Get Gear Fit this summer

Back in January, we predicted 2014 was going to be the year of wearable tech and in February Samsung showcased some new bit of kit at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona – the Galaxy Gear 2, Galaxy Neo and the Gear Fit.

So what’s the deal with the Gear Fit?

Tech spec

The Gear Fit is a smartwatch with a 1.84-inch curved sSuper AMOLED screen that sits snugly on the wrist, and despite its lightweight feel it’s sturdy, dust and water resistant. It also has a lightweight strap that is easy to keep clean.

It comes with a customisable user-interface and you can rotate the screen either horizontally or vertically – switching to vertical makes it much easier to read while on the go – and it has a dazzling array of screen colour options.

Samsung phones come with the S-Health app which monitors your movements and diet and the Fit works alongside S-Health and it’s loaded with and exercise tracker, pedometer, heart rate monitor and the functionality to monitor sleep patterns.

The pedometer can be used solely with the watch screen – giving the edge over the Jawbone, which has to be connected to a phone – while the exercise tracker works well as a running companion, tracking time, distance and pace.

Could be just what you need to get fit this summer.
